Designed specifically for crime labs and forensic training:
The FIP Kit® is a simulated sexual offense evidence collection kit for use by crime laboratories and academic institutions in forensic training, competency testing and methods validation. The kits consist of a collection of specimens simulating evidence that would be collected during a sexual assault examination. The FIP Kit® can be utilized for training forensic science students/trainees on how to conduct a sexual offense evidence kit examination using the reagents and techniques commonly in use in today’s forensic laboratories. The samples provided in the kit also can be utilized for training in human identification DNA analysis. Accompanying each kit is a simulated submission form, case scenario and product profile, along with the screening and DNA performance results of the kit. Each kit offers a unique individually tracked combination of simulated evidence samples. |
Each Standard Kit Contains:
- Simulated oral, anal and vaginal swabs: Two swabs comingled in a swab box and one smear slides in a slide mailer for each anatomical site. Swabs from at least one simulated anatomical site will be stained with human semen.
- Underwear: One undergarment is provided with a stain mixture composed of semen and epithelial cells and one blood stain.
- Reference samples: Buccal swabs and/or blood specimens are provided from each of the epithelial fraction and semen donors.
Custom Kits Also Available: FIP Kit®s can be customized to complement your specific training needs. For example, specific biological fluids can be provided as single source or a mixture samples, such as male and female saliva, urine, blood, and feces. (Note: The price for customized kits is quoted separately.)
Other Customized Training and Validation Samples: We can also provide biological fluids deposited on a range of substrates including swabs and fabrics (natural or synthetic), filter paper, leather, wood, concrete, glass, and metal. Any number or combination of samples can be packaged in individual coin envelopes, micro-centrifuge tubes, spin baskets, and multi-well trays fitting any robotics platform, as requested. Samples can even be packaged to simulate a forensic case submission, if requested.
*Note: FIP Kit®s contain human samples and should be considered bio-hazardous.
